In 1978, 15-year old Mary Vincent was hitchhiking from northern California to Los Angeles to visit her grandfather. She had hitchhiked without a problem until she was offered a ride by a man who stopped and picked her up at Hitchhiker’s Corner on the University of California—Berkley’s campus. Over the next several hours, Mary would experience something horrific that would change her life forever. Mary survived, but her attacker would end up on death row by 1998 for another horrific crime.
