On April 22, 1999, the bodies of Mary Kopatz, and her 3-year-old daughter, Carley were found in the Kopatz’s family van, parked in a parking lot about a mile from their home. The crime scene inside the van seemed to have been staged to make it look like a robbery had occurred. Kim Kopatz, Mary’s husband and Carley’s father, reported Mary and Carley missing after Mary failed to show up to work.
